The Final Solution is a No-State Solution By William Bowles

27 January 2009

It was either in 1941 or maybe 1942 that the Nazis implemented the ‘Final Solution’, the extermination of all ‘non-Aryan’ peoples that included not only the Jews but also the Roma and the Serbs. So the term Holocaust is not copyright © the Jewish ‘race’ in spite of their appropriation of the Upper case.

The numbers are not important, let the historians and researchers argue over whether it was five or six million Jews or whether it was half-a-million or two million Roma who ‘went up the chimney’[1] (I don’t have a number for the Serbs, but perhaps a million died at the hands of the Croatian Ustase, the local Nazis in the then Yugoslavia, as well as at the hands of German Nazi occupiers).

Now why can’t those damn Palestinians just disappear? By William Bowles

20 January 2009

“Gaza fought back, withstood, resisted …. Arabs are now speaking of victory, hailing the resistance, singing the praise of the Palestinians in Gaza…” — Ramzy Baroud

“We had to carry out this operation. I am at peace with the fact that we did it,” she said referring to a three-week long offensive against the Gaza Strip which killed at least 1,300 Palestinians (of which 1099 were civilians, the Gaza-based Palestinian center for human rights reported on Sunday). — Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Israeli Radio

Sixty years ago, in the aftermath of a European war, the Palestinians were made the sacrificial lamb, slaughtered in the abattoir of Capital by their executioners, the Zionists and their imperial paymasters.

Unfortunately for Israel, those damn Palestinians persisted in ‘hanging around’, jammed into refugee camps across the Middle East, ghettoized and relegated to third class people in the land of their birth, Palestine.

The ‘traditional’ view is that expunging an entire nation from the face of the Earth was somehow an atonement for European ‘guilt’ over the Nazi death camps. Looking back, I’m amazed that this idea ever gained any kind of credibility, but it became the rationale for sixty years of misery and death for the Palestinian people as well as a source of destabilization for the entire Middle East.

A burnt offering By William Bowles

16 January 2009

burntIn 1848 a wave of rebellions swept across Europe. In the UK, every major city was occupied by protesters. The initial trigger? The ‘Irish Question’, that is to say, a failed uprising against the English colonial occupiers by the Young Irelanders who were inspired in particular by the 1848 revolution in France.

But in 1848 there was no radio, no Web, no photography, and most people never traveled more than a few kilometers from where they were born. Yet in their thousands they protested the length and breadth of the UK in support of people they had never even seen. The initial reason, Ireland, soon became a general demand for radical, that is to say, progressive change. They didn’t call ‘1848, Year of Revolutions’ for nothing.

Israel’s own Holocaust (and the US’s, and ours) By William Bowles

6 January 2009

Sitting here, relatively comfortable in freezing London, I have spent the last six hours, virtually non-stop, going through the news reports coming out of the Gaza Strip and publishing what I hope brings home the horrors of Israel’s own Holocaust.

Reflexively, I access the latest BBC report and I note that at last they are realizing that blanket approval for Israel/US genocide just won’t do. But is it enough to report the humanitarian catastrophe that is the relentless, remorseless onslaught? After all Israel’s lockdown of the Gaza Strip has been a humanitarian catastrophe for the last year.

The obscenity that is the state of Israel By William Bowles

4 January 2009

The Gaza strip is 360 square kilometers in size with a population approaching 1.5 million people, over 60% of whom are under the age of fourteen. By comparison, London is 1,706 square km, or 4.7 times the size of the Gaza Strip.

Since 27 December, 2008 the Gaza Strip has been subjected to intense aerial bombardment with the most powerful weapons on the planet, all of which have been supplied by the United States: F-16s, Apache helicopter gunships, thermobaric bombs, remote-guided missile equipped drones. Hundreds of tons of bombs and missiles have been dropped on the most densely packed place on Earth

And this on top of the complete blockade that has denied the Palestinians the most basic of necessities of life.

Do we live on the same planet? By William Bowles

2 January 2009

Apparently not, well not if you listen/watch the BBC or read the corporate press, not that creating a world that doesn’t actually exist is anything new, it’s just that the actions of Fascist Israel has stretched our credulity to its limits, thus the media have been forced to stretch their lies to the limit.

You have to ask yourselves how the hell do they get away with it?

The answer is simple: it’s racism, pure and simple. Palestinians are less than human, thus eliminating them is as easy as eliminating vermin, and the actions of Fascist Israel are backed up with their words; Palestinians are “vermin”, “cockroaches”, “Palestine is finished” and so it goes.

Agent of a foreign power? By William Bowles

31 December, 2008

I’m compelled once more to put pen to paper, or precisely fingers to keyboard as I traverse the flood of news that isn’t being shown on the mass media about the ongoing destruction of an entire country and its identity as Palestine and our collective non-response to this outrageous crime against Humanity.

I also have an admission to make about the last piece I wrote ‘No place to run, no place to hide’, I just picked the very first BBC piece on the destruction of Gaza that I came across. It wasn’t difficult, believe me, any person with the right approach to life and a reasonable command of the English language could do it.

And the clowns who write that garbage for the BBC actually think they’re smarter than I am, and you too, dear reader. Well maybe they are. But how do they sleep at night, like a baby (but not one in Gaza I’ll bet)?

No place to run, no place to hide By William Bowles

29 December 2008

So much has been written about the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip and by people with a far greater understanding of the reality of it than I, nevertheless I feel impelled to put pen to paper not only about our collective indifference to the wholesale slaughter being carried out in the name of the ‘chosen people’ but to the media’s ‘coverage’ that has been nothing short of scandalous and especially the BBC’s.

Vanished – How the BBC disappears the news By William Bowles

20 November 2008

This from GazaFriends on the kidnapping of 15 Palestinian fishermen and 3 foreign nationals in international waters by the Israeli navy:

20 November, 2008 — “Darlene Wallach is in a new prison in Ramle, a men’s prison, but she’s in a section reserved for illegal immigrants.

“She wanted to pass on this information, “We were fishing about 7 miles off the shores of Gaza. The Israeli soldiers came on board the three boats via four Zodiacs. The frogmen came up and over each boat. They used a taser on Vik while he was still on the boat, then tried to push him backwards onto a sharp piece of wood. He jumped into the sea to avoid being hurt more than he already was and was in the water for quite a while.

“Then they came for me and forced me into the Zodiac at the point of a gun. They said, “You are in Israeli territory” even though is was obvious that all three boats were in Palestinian territory. They kidnapped me and Andrew and Vik and all of the Palestinian fishermen.”

Palestine: Collectively Punished by Israel and Collectively Punished by the media By William Bowles

22 January 2008
